I was 22 and had a lust for tryin anything psychedelic. I however was not a late bloomer to dosin and this was definitely the highest show I had ever been at. I guess you could call me a late bloomer when it comes to computers. I am sitting at my first ever bought computer and listening to this at the age of 36. Slowhand was #3 with unplugged, sorry deadheads.Īnd I like robbie robertson's take on "broken arrow" better. (#1 "the bodyguard soundtrack", #2 Kenny G "Breathless" #4 Janet Jackson "Janet" and #5 Billy Ray Cyrus "Some Gave All"). So, I'm giving this show four stars because it's better than four of five of the top 5 billboard albums for 1993. Imagine if roger started every review saying, "This movie's OK but it's nothing like the kind of movies they were making in the 1970s, those were my favorite." when that happens it's time for the home. So if you're going to go Siskel and Ebert on these shows, then do what the fat guy does, give some thumbs up based on what else was playing in the theater that week. Nobody coming around here should have any illusion that when they listen to an 90s show they're hearing a different band than the one that played on the hallowed date of 3-1-69. Just listening to this show and really enjoying it except for ruminations on the previous comment about how there ain't nothing wrong with giving 5 stars to something you like for what it is. The only better '93 show I know of is 3/27 Albany where somehow everybody gets every word absolutely perfect and the LMA product is indeed a perfect 5 star. I will recommend this show for listening because: Samson and Wheel > Miracle are rollicking bundles of joy. I actually rather like Liberty though many of the songs the Dead introduced in the 90s fell very flat. Days Between is powerful, brooding, like China Doll but more introspective and seemingly autobiographical.and sad. For that matter, the whole show based on instrumentalism is close to 5 stars but the flubbages of songs that should be old hat constitute a 3. That said, this one is worthy of rebroadcast to large audiences in that regard as Jerry just barely finds his Way On The Help while totally nailing Franklin's and the musicianship just cooks. Why are there so few few perfect Help > Slip > Franklin's triads throughout the entire archive? Jerry so often flubs a line or several in what is lyrically one of the most meaningful passages of music I have ever heard. Blown lyrics in Music Never Stopped and-of all things-Bertha, amongst others. However.5 stars = a perfect show and this one is not that. Y'all grabbed my attention with the meta-analysis of 61 reviews topping at 4.4 stars. There are reasons why not a single official GD release is from a year later than '92. I finally migrated to '93 looking for the hidden gems. Stop hating and posting your shitty opinions.becuz opinions need some sort of factual evidence and obviously those who say '90s GD suck never heard or saw that era. That being said.the only reason no official GD releases of anything post '90 is simply that only old heads that toured mainly in the '70s are who get to choose what officially gets released and thats absurd!!.anyone who ACTUALLY listens or better yet went to these shows knows the truth!.there are SO MANY GREAT PERFORMANCES FROM '90-'95.they just get bad reviews from those who will only "like" the shows they toured on.its not even a question that '87 to '91 were the bands BEST YEARS.hands down.if you dont agree.

When I hear people saying how shows from the '90s suck.I think"what do they think is good?" I assume its some shows from, let me guess.the '70s?.hahahaĭont get me wrong.that era is full of great performances, but what they never admit is how full of shit they are.and the amount of shit shows that also plagued the '70s.from bobby goin thru puberty and singing out of key all the time and JUST LIKE THE '90s.jerry forgot lyrics then as enty of times!.This show and many of shows from late summer and fall of '93 have a beautiful sound.Jerrys guitar sounds GREAT.as do the rest of the boys. We flew out just for this run of two nites(I was still in high school :) ).and it was worth every penny of that airline ticket. This run at Autzen stadium was my first time in Oregon.
